Seznam.cz is the leading web portal in Czechia and one of the very few European search engines that operate their own search index (full-text technology since 2005, "S-Rank" ranking). Founded in 1996 in Prague, the company has been fully owned again by its founder Ivo Lukačovič since 2016 and runs its own data centres in Czechia. This makes Seznam a rare example of European search sovereignty without dependence on a US company's index. Unlike privacy-focused metasearch engines, however, Seznam is a classic ad-funded portal (its own Sklik ad system) with corresponding tracking, and is primarily aimed at the Czech market.
Note on ownership: Seznam.cz is Czechia's largest internet portal and one of the few European search engines with its own index.
